Art Works Week One

This week we have been very busy in room 23 learning about how Art Works. 

We started off the week learning about primary colours and how to mix secondary colours. This lead to our wonderful colour wheel Art. 

 Each day our teacher shared with us a song of the day. Our favourites this week were Sweet child of mine and fly me to the moon.

Later in the week, we took on the challenge of blending colours to create sunset. We all used lots of water to help mix the colours on our paper. 

 Some of us who read with Mrs Carruthers read all about art. We learnt how to paint cute pots that we will later plan plants in and take home to our families. One great make beautiful flowers, another made clay faces and one group even learned how to make their own chalk.

Art Works Assembly

 In term 3 our school theme is Art works. On Monday we had a big assembly with all of the teachers and students from Pt England School called an immersion assembly. 

All the teachers put on a show for us sharing some of the creative arts we would be doing. 

Our team is learning about all kinds of art from Music to dance, drama and of course visual art with painting and drawing to come. We can't wait to have a great term learning how Art Works!

Our First day

 Today we had our first day back at school for 2022. For some of us this was the first day back for ages has we had not returned after to 2021 Covid 19 Lockdowns.

Whale Tales

Our school is lucky enough to be designing a whale tail for the art trail. It is a trail to remind people what treasures the Bryde’s Whale are. We had to plan and a design for the tail and only one could be choose. 

Room 23 decided that we needed to have a reminder about the Bryde’s Whale in our classroom so we created Crayon and dye whale tails for our walls. 

Moon Art

 Room 19 have been learning about the moon as part of our unit called watch this space. 

Messy Art

 This year we are look at colour and what amazing master pieces we can create. Earlier in the term Room 21 and the block has a great time creating a piece of art using balls. 

 

Art Alive

This term we were son lucky to start the term at alert level 1 and be able to sit together in the hall for the first time in a long time. Our focus for this term is Art Alive each team shared their focus and the wonderful creations of their teachers. Check it out.

Siapo art recount by Aliana

This is Aliana’s wonderful recount of what we did to create our Siapo art. She has included two picture one of our art and one of her digital recreation of a siapo pattern.

Siapo art

This week the block created beautiful Siapo art to add colour and excitement to our classroom.

We all worked very hard to make sure our patterns were bright and colourful before we dyed the background.

Art Fun

Today was the first day of term and we had an immersion day looking at different forms of art and planning for the term ahead. 

We started the day in immersions assembly with each team sharing their focus for the term. Then we started writing creative recounts about the assembly. 

After morning tea and for the afternoon we started our art rotations. 

Our rotations were focused on basic skills and planning. 

We practiced using a paint brush carefully. 

We design our visual Mihi which will be one of our digital art projects this term. 

We thought about a drew cultural designs in chalk outside. 

We learnt to draw a range of character and cartoons. 

Art

This term we have made some awesome art.

First we made picture of the sun and sky. We created these using dye and black crayon. Once we had finished we added some glitter to make it sparkle.

Next we created a self portrait.  I am so proud of the way these turned out.
