About Us!

This week has been the first week back at school for 2021. We have had so much fun and really enjoyed jumping straight into our learning. 

On our first few days of school we focused on writing our about me for our blogs. We all love blogging and can't wait to get started once our Chromebooks arrive. 

Preposition Videos

On Tuesday we had an amazing time making movies using the preposition we have been learning from our wonderful student teachers.

We started out by watching the example which can be found on this site:



After watch the example all the children were excited to get going. They were given the option of making their video as an Explain Everything using photos and voice recordings (Which they do a lot) or making it using multiple short clips into a movie in iMovie.

Everyone loved making these movies. A group stayed in class with Mrs Carruthers while another group went outside with Mr Vogt. It was cool to see so many different creations.

Fish Story

On the last day of school before the lockdown we made animations about a fish. We listened to a story, drew characters and backgrounds to make our own stories.

About Me - Cybersmart

We have been sharing a bit of information about ourselves for our blog. This post comes to you from Abbey. She is a Year 4 in our space.

 Hi my name is abbey. I am 8 Years old.
I live in glen Innes. I have 4 sisters and 0 brothers.
my favourite food is crispy cream. I like my teacher .
Disheyland. I like to swim in the pool.

Keep Being Cybersmart

This year Rooms 19 and 20 created our Film Festival movie as a fun way of showing how we are cybersmart in our classroom every single day.

Victoria: Kia Ora, I am Victoria
Blessing: And I am Blessing.
Both: We are year 3s students from Pt England School.
Blessing: Hey Victoria remember that time you got stuck in that game?
Victoria: Yes, We had to be Cybersmart to get out.
Blessing: Being Cybersmart is soooo important.
Victoria: Yes it is!
Both: Keep being Cybersmart Manaiakalani!

Beginning to Blog

Rooms 19 and 20 are so excited to be able to blog using the wonderful new blogging app which many people have worked hard on.

It was lovely to see the excited of three of our wonderful learners sharing their great  learning on their blogs. This week all the learner in Rooms 19 and 20 thought carefully about what information they wanted to share with the world for their Blog about me. They use an explain everything activity with sentence starters and questions to help them plan their about me then they wrote it all ready for their blogs.

Brooke's about me

Hi my name is Brooke. I am 7 year old and I live in pt England. I have 0 sisters and 2 brothers. My favourite colour is yellow. my favourite food is Mc Donalds. my  favourite tv show is smurfs.

We can't wait for all the year 3 learners to get blogging all their great learning.

Bin it movie

This term Room 14 made amazing animations about why we need to put our rubbish in the bin. This is Angelica's Movie. We love the way she has used detail in her pictures and made a thoughtful voice over to explain her thinking. Ka Pai Angelica!

Cybersmart Learning About Me

Last week Room 14 wrote their about me statements for their blogs. They had to think carefully about what they wrote and decide if it was personal information they wanted to share or keep to themselves. Once they had decided it was time write and share. To start their cybersmart about me room 14 used a flower template and choose 5 things they wanted to share. Then they wrote one on each petal. The flowers they created are now our cybersmart wall and their about me writing is being posted on their blogs.
