Rube Goldberg Machines

We have had a busy term in team 3 learning all about forces and motion. We have taken all this learning a designed and animated our Rube Goldberg Machines. These machines show different simple machines in action and how they impact the balls as they move through the machine.

This is our Task Description and Rubric:

These are the wonderful creations of some of our year 3 learners. Sadly many did not get a change to record their voice over but it is clear they have worked hard and thought carefully about their Rube Goldberg Machines and how many simple machines can work together.

Auckland Zoo

Last week on Thursday we went to a Auckland  zoo. We went on a bus. When we got there we had morning tea. After that we walked around the zoo. I saw the Tasmania DEVLIS they were fat, they had a white line across their bodys. They are black. The zoo keeper said" they do not harm humans. They eat meat we can call them cold blooded animals. They are the best animals I have ever seen and the most beautiful DEVLIS ever. They live in Australia.

Alex believes all zoos should be shut down because they can not provide the right environment for animals that should live in the wild.

I disagree with Alex because I think that all zoos can help animals and keep them safe. The animals helps us to learn about when they are hurt p. Zoos can teach us about all the animals. Vika agrees with Eva because animals can help us learn and and keeping them safe and animals don't hurt ever even killed.

Legacy agrees that zoos are good but have you thought that animals don't get hurt at the zoo. Becuase the zoo keeper look after them.

I agree with Eva and legacy that animals can die and I also agree with Vika that animals can help us.

Forces and Art

This term is all about forces and motion and the wonderful Ms Eadie has been at it again using art to teach gravity. For this wonderful piece of art the kids dropped balls with paint on them from different heights to see what kind of mark it would leave. It looked fantastic and it has made us even more excited "I Like to Move It!"

This term we are learning all about forces and motion. How and why things move. As part of our immersion day each person made a piece for our marble run. After a long wait and lots of thinking about how we would put it together our marble run was finally completed and here it is.

When we put marbles down different paths we see them travel at different speeds. We love our new marble run.
